Managing Director
Andrew Mafie is the Managing Director of Explore Mount Kilimanjaro Company Ltd and a highly experienced tourism
professional with extensive knowledge of Mount Kilimanjaro trekking and Tanzania adventure tourism.
With over 27 years of experience in the tourism industry, Andrew has dedicated his career to guiding travelers safely
and successfully through Tanzania’s most iconic destinations. His journey in the tourism sector began as a mountain
porter, where he worked for 12 years gaining valuable hands-on mountain experience and understanding the importance of
teamwork, safety, and customer care.
Afterward, he advanced to become a professional mountain guide and has now worked for more than 15 years as a tour and
trekking guide on Mount Kilimanjaro and other adventure destinations across Tanzania. His experience has allowed him to
lead climbers from around the world with professionalism, confidence, and deep local knowledge.
Professional Education & Training
Andrew received professional tour guiding and wildlife training from respected Tanzanian institutions, including:
• Kilimanjaro National Park (KINAPA)
• College of African Wildlife Management (MWEKA)
Wilderness & Safety Certifications
Safety is one of Andrew’s highest priorities. He has completed internationally recognized wilderness medical and
emergency response training, including:
• Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification by Sentinel Outdoor Institute, USA
• Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification by Monroe Medical Solutions, United Kingdom

Harun S Mshahara
Operations Manager
Harun S Mshahara serves as the Operations Manager at Explore Mount Kilimanjaro Company Ltd and is an experienced Mount
Kilimanjaro guide with over 20 years of professional guiding experience.
Throughout his career, Haruna has successfully guided and assisted more than 200 climbers from different parts of the
world in reaching the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. His extensive mountain experience, leadership skills, and deep
understanding of trekking operations make him an important part of the company’s management team.
As Operations Manager, Haruna is responsible for coordinating daily tour operations, organizing climbing logistics,
supervising mountain crews, arranging transfers and accommodations, and ensuring every trip runs smoothly from arrival
to departure.
His long experience on Mount Kilimanjaro has given him exceptional knowledge of:
• Mountain safety and acclimatization
• Trekking logistics and trip coordination
• Client care and customer satisfaction
• Team leadership and problem-solving
